Los Angeles psychedelic rock band Wand released a new single, titled Scarecrow,on Tuesday. Scarecrow is the first single to be released from their upcoming record, Laughing Matter, which is set to come out via Drag City Records on April 19. The song takes on a much different, but more mature feeling sound for the band.

The nominees for the 2019 Best Pop Vocal Album category include Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, Kelly Clarkson, P!NK, Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello. I love all of these albums, and have listened to all of them multiple times, but I can not shake the feeling that it will be either Grande or Swift that prevails. Swift’s reputation was a monolithic comeback, whereas Grande’s Sweetener showed us a side of Grande we hadn’t yet seen.

Making an attempt to immerse yourself in a music scene can be hard. The more specific a scene, the harder it can be. The less popular it is, the harder it can be. As if having to put up with another Led Zeppelin cover band as an opener, or the dude standing next to you who needs you to know just how involved he is within this scene wasn’t hard enough. At least for the Boston punk scene, I believe the record label SUPER WIMPY PUNCH is an excellent hub for punk music.

Andrew Bird, folkish singer/songwriter, has released a new single. Lead single from his upcoming album. The song, “Sisyphus” is an upbeat folk pop song, highly reminiscent of Father John Misty’s recent output, almost to point of sounding like a weird imitation.
