Ariana Grande Faces “7 Rings” Backlash

After releasing the second official single from her upcoming album “thank u, next”, Ariana Grande has found herself in hot water with fans after facing accusations of stealing from black artists, as well as appropriating culture.

The accusations come after fans noticed similarities between the beat of “7 Rings” and Soulja Boy’s “Pretty Boy Swag” as well as calling out Grande for her lyric “you like my hair?/gee thanks, just bought it” in which fans felt that Grande was appropriating black culture.

However, in spite of the backlash, “7 Rings” became Grande’s second #1 debut on the Billboard Hot 100, following its predecessor “thank u, next”

Grande’s fifth studio album “thank u, next” is out February 8th.
